Why exactly is a monster that is essentially a blob of glue going to be lawful evil? Maybe it is not so much that the adherer wants to be lawful evil, but because they are pretty low on the intelligence scale [“semi”], they only want someone to tell them what to do. And one thing that lawful evil types are good at is telling people what to do.

For that matter, pretty much all the lawful alignments are into telling monsters, NPCs, and good-natured but misunderstood player characters what to do. Ever go to a lawful neutral place? Don’t: it sucks. Lawful good? Might as well be lawful boring.
